Design Is Key To Project Success
User experience and satisfaction are at the heart of a product or architectural design.
Design is the process of creating the shape of something in the mind. Shaping a product or an office, giving it an identity that fits the brand, all stem from design. Therefore, it's critical for the designer to have all the necessary information to guide their work. They must understand the brand well, know the purchasing habits and expectations of the users/customers, stay up-to-date with technology, and most importantly, closely follow relevant trends.
All these elements will shape the project in which the design will be implemented. Implementing a project is a significant investment. This investment has many returns for the client, from productivity, employee satisfaction, loyalty, recruiting new talents, to brand reputation.
Let’s think about an office design. Considering the design of an office solely as an architectural project is utterly incorrect. Not just architects, but the client, engineers, and interior designers involved in implementing the project should also be part of the design process, as design is not just about making drawings. During the planning and implementation stages of design, the expectations of the client, the technological infrastructure to be used, and the employee experience and satisfaction will also be influential.
It’s the same for product design. No matter how stylish an office chair or desk you design, if it does not meet the user's expectations, that design cannot be considered successful. What matters is that people can use the product comfortably and be satisfied with it.
Another critical aspect of how design affects a project is cost. As we mentioned earlier, project implementation is a serious investment, and cost has a significant impact on investment decisions. If a product design does not satisfy the user, the investment made in that product is wasted, and no client wants to make such an investment.
Therefore, the first step to creating a good user/customer experience in a project is to have a design that meets expectations.
